Field Notes

Description:

This is an all black, small (some 30 cm in length incl tail) but incredibly aggressive Asian predatory songbird.

Habitat:

Seen in rural areas around Sittwe, near agricultural fields and close to animals.

Notes:

Considered subspecies of Fork-tailed Drongo until recently. It is often associated with farming, and farmers appreciate it - in Myanmar, they know that Drongos help farmers in controlling animal pests.
