Description:

Bright yellow, dandelion-like flowers that have coarse toothed, narrow leaves. It belongs to the aster family.

Habitat:

Spotted at Tamarac NWR on North River Road. Dry sunny area along the road.

Notes:

The name "Hawkweed" came from the mistaken belief that hawks ate the flowers to improve their vision.
