Field Notes
Description:
We are trying to identify everything on campus. We have already identified plants. So we are now looking for mushrooms. Our group is looking near a moist area in the woods. So far we have found 5 or 6 different types of mushrooms. The other groups did not find as much mushrooms as us. Some have only found 2 mushrooms. We only have to identify as much mushrooms as we can. I have identified 2 mushrooms so far one of them is Clitocybe Atroviridis, that is the scientific name. I found this mushroom by going on a website called http://tolweb.org/tree/. The cap on it is black and kind of round but has ridges. To identify it I used the tree of life site these are the steps I took. (Eukaryotes) organisms with nucleated cells. then (Fungi) mushrooms, sac, yeast, molds, rusts, smuts, etc. then (Basidomycota) mushrooms, rusts, smuts. Then to (Agaricomycatina) Jelly, fungi, yeast, and mushrooms. Then (Agaricomycetes) mushroom forming fungi. Then the last one I chose was (Agaricomycetidae) which didn’t have a definition next to it. That brought me to the mushroom. The spore print for the mushroom was a black/purple color. The hole thing was pretty slimy.
