Description:

If you've never heard of a basenji, they are an African hunting dog that may be one of the oldest breeds. In picture #2 you may see a pose resembling that of the statues of ancient Egypt. Their more recognizable feature is that they are "barkless" as in they do not bark but they "yodel." They are an interesting breed that is incredibly intelligent, so much so, they are resistant to training, especially if it doesn't interest them.

I love dogs! This breed is beautiful and has an interesting history! I posted a pic of my 269 lb English Mastiff, he was huge but scared of cats and thunder! They have an interesting history as well, check his pic out on my site!

Basenjis have a dogs 101 episode and it's right on as far as the breed goes. This picture is of my Rosie who lived to 14 years old. They are extremely intelligent and very much a "pack" animal. They are true to their family. They are a breed that I would never recommend letting off their leash. They are too inquisitive and smart to let them wander. They are very catlike in their grooming habits. They are just a very cool breed.

Wow your are right they look a lot alike. I watch animal planets dogs 101 all the time and have never even seen that on. Thank you for introducing me to this breed. Are they a really good breed?
