Description:
I chose a light orange/brown at the edge of the forest. The gills are unattached and has a cream spore print. Also, the cap is round and does not have a collar.
Habitat:
At the edge of the forest near oak, berch, and pine trees.
Notes:
I chose a mushroom that was growing on the edge of the forest. The mushroom was light brown and had gills. it was a sunny day but cold. it took a long time to identify the mushroom on the internet. I found that the mushrooms common name is Golden Waxy Cap and the scientific name is Hygrocybe Flavescens. It is in the gilled fungi major group and here some of the smaller groups: Its order: agaricales, suborder: White Spored, Family: hygrophoraceae, Genus: hygrocybe, and the section is Yellow Hygrocybe. We went out in October when there was still snow on the ground. The mushroom is 6 cm. tall and the cap is 2 cm. wide. The spore print is a creamy white. The mushroom was dry and there were no mushrooms near by. The trees nearby are berch and oak. There is not a odor to the mushroom.
