Field Notes

Description:

Both parents and two juveniles where in the nest. The first pic shows the difference in eye color. The adult on the right has yellow eyes while the juvenile on the left has orange eyes. The plumage difference is partially visible. The juvenile has a scaly or pale-fringed brown upperparts, while the adults are more solid dark brown on the upperparts.

Habitat:

Spotted at Helen McCabe State Park, near Ellensburg, Washington.
