You're welcome! I had the hardest time finding it at first because I was so focused on its unusual color. It's a gorgeous weevil!
Thanks for the ID. I think you're right about the dirt - I was also under the impression it had pink/red colouring on it but the red dirt makes more sense.
I was thrown off at first by the pinkish color on the weevil, which I now suspect is just red dust from the soil that got on it. I found the exact weevil in a published reference of Australian weevils: Zimmerman, E.C. Australian Weevils (Volume 5). 1991 pages 388-389
Gorgeous. It's particularly stunning against the red earth background!
