Description:

Tall green reeds with orange-brown flowers on some branches.

Habitat:

Spotted in Lake Hodges in Escondido.

Notes:

The second and third picture were taken by my sister.

Thanks Cindy, there was this link from wiki that is similar to yours on calflora. It's interesting to see all the different common names for a species, but I'm not sure I can pinpoint exactly what it is. I'll still call it Tule, but I believe it's Schoenoplectus acutus. I'm not 100% on the ID although it is the correct genus. You can search other species by opening up http://www.calflora.org/, type Schoenoplectus in the plant name search box and select San Diego county. Good luck!
