Field Notes

Habitat:

It has a small black, lumpy cap (like a hedgehog) with a shinny sap like coating around the stalk, it’s around 2.5-6 cm long,it was found under a tree in the woods.
This mushroom has a brown bottom,it is dry and it has layers on the bottom. The mushroom has a whitish mold and it breaks easily. The season that it grows is from July - November and we got it at the end of November. It falls apart and it leaves a residue after it. It is like a black ash.It is attached and it has no collar.The odor smells like dirt and bugs.
