Field Notes

Description:

One of two wild "hogs" found in our area of the jungle. This is the smaller of the two reaching an adult weight of around 50-75 lbs. The base color is black with light brown hairs coming through throughout the body. The hair is course and bristly. The face is more brown and it has a noticeable "collar" going in front of the front legs and back over the shoulders.

Habitat:

Mostly found in lowland swampy jungle where their food grows. They are widespread throughout the Amazon rainforest of SE Ecuador.

Notes:

This was still a young one and would get somewhat bigger, but not noticeably.
