Description:

This moss grows in the native oak trees here in Central Texas. As the sun was setting tonight, these balls of moss just glowed and I had to try to capture it.

I love spanish moss - reminds me of all the gothic images of the south in the old vampire movies! The relationship between the tree & the moss is not a mutualistic one; While it rarely kills the trees, it lowers their growth rate by reducing the amount of light to a tree's own leaves. It also increases wind resistance, which can prove fatal to the host tree in a hurricane.
