Species ID Suggestions

I appreciate your suggestion! Admittedly, Black Eyed Susan is the first plant I looked at trying to ID it :)
Hi Nicholas4, definitely similar but look at the edges of each floret. Mine are jagged, not pointed.
Looks like a black eyed susan to me.. Check this posting out: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6864554
Hi Craig, I really appreciate you looking into it. I see what you mean about Encelia californica. I'll just remove my ID guess since I don't believe it's Helianthus and keep looking. Have a good evening!
Ha! You've got me Cindy. Asteraceae are not my strong point. It could well be a Helianthus species but the closest match to the ends of the yellow ray florets I can find is Encelia californica. Unfortunately, I don't have any books for Cal. Flora so it's very much a wild guess: http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=Encelia+californica&oe=UTF-8&um=1&hl=en&biw=1259&bih=582&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=2VYYT-7IKM62hAeqvLSzDA
