Description:
Small weevil of about 4mm body length, excluding the rostrum. Despite its small size, this species actually has one of the longest 'snouts' among weevils, which allows it to reach deeply into flowers. The antennae are elbowed and the first segment is much longer than the others. Body is stocky and head is small with large eyes. Thighs are very thick and sport a spine. Colouration is grey/brown.
Habitat:
Found on Balga (Grass Tree - Xanthorrhoea preissii) flower in forest of mainly Marri (Corymbia calophylla,) and Jarrah (Eucalyptus marginata). It seems that this small weevil species is only found in Western Australia.
