Field Notes

Description:

Small and brown with pointy ears and a very short tail. Stalking the squirrels at the bird feeding station!

Habitat:

This bobcat is a frequent visitor to the Discovery Center grounds and must be a resident of the area.

Notes:

Staff members and visitors to the Discovery Center have spotted a bobcat around the grounds several time this fall. It looks like this resident knows just where to go to find food. Here he is visiting our bird feeding station, but I don’t think he was after the birds….. This clever cat is looking for a mouthful of red or gray squirrel (check out the second photo). The last photo shows the bobcat mid-leap as it returned to the woods behind one of the cabins.
