Amata sp

Hi, Jared. I am a litle bit sceptic about Endocrocis, the spots seem to be too large for Endocrocis. Amata are very difficult to ID and many of them are not correctly IDed and there is not much info about the 12 Amata sp. found in RSA. If you want to be on the safe side then I would take Amata sp. as scientific name. I you are "risky" player you first should do a research and try to get as much info as possible, maybe even try to get a copy from some historical description or scientific papers (if you have access to a library for example). My closest guess would be Amata cerbera. There are quite large spots and the stripes do not look bad as well. Colors of the stripes might differ a little bit, but yours are clearly more yellw than red. So if you meet some orange-colored ones, hmm... red or yellow, you might see both, also in Cerbera, whereas Alicia in my eyes has mor red ones on the body. From Cerbera there is also a subspcies hanningtoni with very large spots.
