Common Archduke

adult male - this species looks and behaves exactly like the Black-tipped archduke (Lexias dirtea ssp. merguia) and is impossible to tell them apart when in flight. the most obvious difference between these two species is the colouration of the antennae where L.pardalis have well-defined orange on the apical part of the club on the upperside... while on L.d.merguia the apical topside of the antennae is either black or brown. in both species the underside of the club is orange.!
