Field Notes

Description:

Five fellows were following our car in the Wild Ass Sanctuary. When we stopped suddenly all others flew away but this one sat on a tree very close to the car. I have seen that when crows are following this bird. It starts flying in a very strange manner to save itself. It will fly in a pumping action, first it swoops down and then again goes up, using the long forked tail. Since, the crow cannot fly in this manner it gives up very easily.

Habitat:

Open agricultural areas and light forest. Seen near the little rann of kutch.
