Description:

Bright electric blue beetle-like bug with six orange spots. 8mm length. Big sucking tube on face. :) (Found sharing the juices of larva with some shield bug)

With more experience I doubt it could be anything else now. Thanks Martin.
The single orange dot on the nymph seems quite consistent. You're right take due caution about ID's. I would not be surprised to see a sap feeding bug take some opportunistic protein. Fascinating observation. I have also spotted this one in victoria (adult) http://www.flickr.com/photos/66925960@N08/6190127023/in/set-72157627535727165/lightbox/
I looked at those martin but I wondered about the front double orange spots compared to a single central one on the cotton harlequin bug... and the way it was seemingly sucking larva juice when the CHB is meant to be vegetarian ??
