Description:

The flowers of this native germander are really unusual in shape. The upper corolla is either missing or so reduced as to seem to be missing. This is a characteristic shared throughout the genus. This plant is perfectly at home on the dunes at the beach, as it favors sandy soil.

Native Distribution: Saskatchewan east to Newfoundland, south to Florida, west to Texas, and north to North Dakota; also in all western states and British Columbia.
Native Habitat: Prairie, Plains, Meadows, Pastures, Savannahs
