My favorite summer woodpecker here in Minnesota. Very nice pic of a handsome male, Livan. They excavate holes in my birch trees and raise babies, but they have to fight the starlings away once they make the cavity. The downy and hairy woodpeckers tough out the winters here, these fly south...apparently to Florida :)
