Description:

Two photos of the Ceiba tree, the Central World Tree of the Mayan culture.
The left is a young tree displaying the unmistakable thick conical thorns around the trunk. To the right is a mature tree, approximately 60 feet tall.

Habitat:

The Ceiba tree is found in tropical areas.

Notes:

In the Mayan culture the Ceiba tree connects the planes of the Underworld (Xibalba), the terrestrial realm and the skies.
