Field Notes

Description:

Pure white bird. Difficult to distinguish from large egret which is only slightly bigger except in breeding plumage. Eats fish, frogs, etc. Seen this one at a marsh and was searching for food in shallow waters. Was fiddling the earth in the marsh with its legs and then dipping the beak for food. Clicked b Dr. Atul using my camera as I was on the wheel.

Habitat:

Residents throughout the plains of India. Seen near ponds, marshes, mangrove swamps, etc.
