Field Notes

Description:

Checking for lunch traffic: "You look left, I'll look right." This pair of cheetah may smell a nearby group of antelope.

Habitat:

Eastern bushveld, South African savannah (Zululand). Wooded grassland. Home to 200 large mammals.

Notes:

As delegates at the United Nations Framework for Climate Change Convention for COP17 in Durban, South Africa, it was time to leave the meetings and presentations behind to see nature. This photo safari was spectacular. "Phinda" means return, describing the same spirit as Noah's ark, where native species were returned to this 40,000 acre preserve.

The Cheetah are superb but I think its the wide open space that adds the exhileration to the shot
this shot has a high 'WOW" factor
