Field Notes

Description:

A 25 - 30 mm long fly with a narrow elongated body with black and white alternate markings and prominent eyes. Tibia had reddish colouring. No distinct colour on wings.

Habitat:

open forests

Notes:

This fly was sitting on a gum tree trunk. It was not perturbed by movement around it but was a little too high up the trunk for better shots.
