Description:

Green sawfly larvae feeding on eucalyptus leaves (E microcarpa?). 30mm length; slightly translucent green tinted skin; a pair of false eye spots above head; some white bristles near head and.

Habitat:

Eucalyptus leaves.

Notes:

One week later they seem to have more reddish tinge towards the tails.

Thanks for the links martin. Your spotting is very likely the same as I remember seeing them a week or so ago.
Nice clear shot ArgyBee. The long tailed sawflies are often wattle sawflies. These are on eucalyptus I have spotted some similar to yours and not found a satisfying ID.
