Driver Ant Drone
6.23344, 116.195
Field Notes
Description:
An orange ant alate with a body length about 15mm.
It has a strangely segmented long abdomen.
It's long thorax is slightly hairy.
It did not fly (because wet maybe), instead it dragged it's body, notice the dragged mark line on the wet sand in the second picture.
Habitat:
Somewhere in the seaside Mimpianjadi Resort, Tuaran, Sabah, Malaysia.
Notes:
Other than this Hymenoptera, I found 2 other species of flying ants on the beach early in the morning.
Dorylus laevigatus is the most possible species for now, thanks to C.Sydes for the lead.
>>>Map accuracy : 150m diameter.
