Field Notes
Description:
Small scales about 1/4 inch in diameter. I think it looks like chewed gum but there were 3 on one tree. The last one has stripes but I believe it's the same species.
This is currently an unknown scale per Bug Guide although there's an initial guess of Kermesidae.
