Notes:

Though many here consider milkweed an ugly weed, I find it beautiful. It provides us with sweet pink flowers, a place for monarchs to lay eggs, feed monarch caterpillars, and then they provide us with a show like the pictures above.

I'm glad I'm not the only one... :) That's great that you're going to plant some! I usually collect seeds too...which is super fun!
I enjoy it too! There are also many species of Asclepias, with different colored blooms - orange, red, yellow, green & white, & all attractive to monarchs. I've ordered seeds for about 10 different species that are supposedly hardy in this region so hopefully we will have lots of beautiful flowers to enjoy next year as well as many more butterflies!
