Field Notes

Description:

Striking Leafhopper with red and turquoise stripes. The scutellum is orange. About 5 mm in length. Family Cicadellide. Pictures 2 and 3 were taken on 17 July 2018 on leaves of Lily of the Nile. Pictures 4 and 5 were taken on 12 July 2018 in the same place. Interestingly, while the eye is usually white, it can also be dark as in the last picture.

Habitat:

Semi-rural residential area, San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico, 2,200 meters.
