Description:
Elkhorn coral is a Critically Endangered organism.This is the highest risk category assigned by the IUCN Red List for wild species. Critically Endangered means that a species' numbers have decreased, or will decrease, by 80% within three generations.
The coral is near the island of Long Caye within the Lighthouse reef Atoll.
Habitat:
Elkhorn coral are found primarily in shallow marine waters with temperatures between 26 to 30 °C (79 to 86 °F), and with significant water movement. They are one of the most abundant species in waters ranging from 1 to 5 metres (3.3 to 16 ft) deep
