Field Notes

Notes:

When I took these pictures, this insect was in a dark area and I thought it was a dragonfly. So, I used flash to take a couple photos, and didn't pay much attention to it because, you know, I have a lot of pics of dragonflies and damselflies. But today, looking at the photos, I noticed that the proportions of the body seemed a little odd (mostly the eyes, that look too small), and, above all: have anybody seen a dragonfly with antennas like those ones?

Glad to help! I'm also learning new things every day - so many weird, wonderful & beautiful creatures I have never seen before (especially arthropods!) Noah has sparked a curiosity in me - I just want to keep seeing more!
Ok, I will keep looking for an exact ID, Karen. Critters like this one are the reason that the two frases I use more often nowadays are "I've never seen anything like this" and "I didn't know that"...
Cool spot! I think this is a species of owlfly but I could only find a reference for the North American species so you will need to do some digging for an exact match.
