Description:
One of the most common orchids native to eastern North America - these small white flowers. The common name refers to the leaves, which may seem to resemble snakeskin - a similarity that in folk medicine would suggest its use as a cure for snakebite. Canada: NB , NS , ON , QC
Native Distribution: Ontario east to New Brunswick, south to Florida, west to Louisiana and Oklahoma, and north through Missouri to Minnesota.
Native Habitat: Dry or moist, deciduous or coniferous woods and well-drained wooded slopes.
