Habitat:

Native to woodland and rocky slopes in eastern North America. It is widely grown outside its native region, in temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere.

Notes:

Seen by the main walkway during a school fieldtrip; the uniqueness of the flower's shape caught my eye.
