Field Notes

Description:

A larger, gray-brown bird with a long tail that is orange on the underside. The bill is long and curved downward which is distinctive. It was hunting worms on a very rainy day. The most worms I saw in its bill at once was 6!

Habitat:

Our front yard that has both Oak Woodland and Chaparral communities. These images were taken in the bark and sidewalk just outside the front door.

Notes:

"A long-tailed bird of the chaparral, the California Thrasher is found only in California and Baja California." - All About Birds
