Cobweb Spider
4.39779, 117.888
Field Notes
Description:
A tiny Cat Eye Spider with a body length of 2.5 mm and a abdomen width of 2.5mm too.
Its body is black with 4 bright yellow spots, the limbs are transparent.
Its colors and patterns matches that of a Theridula gonygaster but their shapes are different.
Might be from the Chrysso, Theridion, or Chikunia genera too.
The 2nd photo shows its breakfast, a crane fly victim.
Habitat:
Lives under the leaves of a Melastoma plant in front of Tawau Hills Park, Tawau, Sabah, Malaysia.
Notes:
It was early in the morning, the forest reserve park has not opened yet so I waited outside until 8 am.
I looked for some early arthropods while waiting outside.
This is my first spotting, a beautiful and unique spider.
Luckily it did not move around much, making photography easier.
The bad news is that my camera macro mode has reached its limit so I can't get a clearer photo of this tiny spider.
