Field Notes

Description:

Climbing vine which produces oils causing blistering and itching skin.

Habitat:

Common in moist woodlands and wetlands. Associated with forested areas. Not likely to be encountered in the absence of trees.

Notes:

Leaves may be smooth or lobed, depending on the age of the plant. Produces white berries. Foliage turns bright orange/red in the fall. Vine, itself, has a very "hairy" appearance.

This is sarcastically referred to as the state flower in Minnesota. Lots of PI here. I have never seen it as a vine, it grows all over the upper midwest as a regular upright plant. Nice grouping, interesting lobes on the leaves of the middle pic.
