Description:
Small tit, grey-white below, and grey above, with black-and-white patterned head. Difficult to identify 100% in flight, because of its resemblance to other species of tits present in european alpine environment (in particular Marsh and Willow tit, the two small tits of similar appearance; and the Great tit to some extent)- the key for the ID is the white line on the nape (going from the top of the back to the crown), splitting the black of the neck into two lateral stripes (well visible on click N°2).
Habitat:
Alpine environment, on edges of coniferous forest and around mountain habitations and gardens in French Alps.
Notes:
It took me over three hours and over 100 clicks to get few of them helpful to the identification... I know pics are not of great quality, but that was the best I was able to do with such a fast client; that little bird was amazingly fast... and yes, this was the first time to get one of them on pics; so it counts as a lifer on my e-Bird account.
