Syrphid (Hover fly)

Many members of this large group are very common flies. Syrphids occur in many habitats, usually on flowers. All are good fliers, and often do a great deal of hovering. Adults vary greatly in size, colored, and appearance; many are brightly colored with yellow, brown, and black.
