Description:

While the bright orange-red flowers are attractive to look at and seem to appeal to butterflies and other pollinators, this plant is listed as a troublesome or common weed by Georgia Exotic Pest Plant Council. There is some debate as to whether it is native to the eastern US or an introduced invasive - in any case, it's aggressive.

AL, AR, CT, DC, DE, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, MI, MO, MS, NC, NJ, NY, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, VA, WV
Found in disturbed areas along roads, stream banks, fence rows, old fields and other waste areas.

Spotted in a construction area near Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park
