I know, it's insane how critical the situation on Sumatra is! I've been working some with an organization there called Sumatran Orangutan Society and they're doing some amazing work there to help conserve what's left of the beautiful rainforest on the island...so impressed by all of these people who devote their lives to give animals and their habitat a chance!
Thanks for your picture! This is great because, you know, Orangutans are under serious treat in their habitat.
It's supposed to be close to Banda Aceh, so definitly northern Sumatra...thanks for spotting, will change the map :)!
Cool. I've only seen them as poor captives in villages and towns, and in the Tanjung Puting rehab center. Just curious, was it north Sumatra or Riau (your map)?
