Field Notes

Description:

Galls? Tree disease? A normal occurrence? Does anyone know what these growths are?

Habitat:

They are on a Laurel Oak, I believe, or a similar species of thin-leafed oak.

Notes:

If they are caused by insects, like gall wasps, I will change category to Arthropods, but I can't say I've seen these particular growths before. If they are not, I will remove them from such categories, etc.
