Field Notes
Description:
A 5 cm long dark brown caterpillar with tufts of golden yellow bristles through the length of its body. A yellow streak runs all along its back with whitish yellow raised spots on either side of mid-line on each body segment. <br> The two thin erect tufts of long black behind the head helps to distinguish this species form others like A.acuta.
Head -reddish brown
Habitat:
Urban garden - found under a Rhododendron tree ( which is under a grey box gum tree)
Notes:
Found him on the ground- temporarily placed the caterpillar on a leaf for photos. Very slow moving- it had not moved much when I checked on it about 30 min later.
