Thanks Leuba .. .it was very active, but not agressive, as I imagine a Hornet would have been .....
Thanks for the ident Daniele. I had just come across a pic of a Hornet on another website so was coming back to this spotting to check it out .. I would probably have labelled it Hornet so good job you beat me to it!! : )
Great spotting Viv ! Would never have guessed it to be a hoverfly - I love the second pic.
