Field Notes

Notes:

This one is also a giant moth, that's over 80 mm. It also has a long protruding hind part, which is very prominent. The body is not yellow like that of othe Magpie Moths. This's largest specimen I've witnessed.

Thanks Vijay. Compared to other Abraxas this particular spotting has a wingspan of 100 mm! Whereas, those posted just preceding to this and even those posted on 3rd Dec 2014 are in the range of 50-60 mm. And also a long pointed part from the tail-end, may be a male organ, is jutting out that we can see, which it quickly withdrew when disturbed. None of the other spottings demonstrated this.
I too spotted similar moth in Gangtok in November http://indiabiodiversity.org/observation/show/358279
Thanks Sergio for the like, but take a closer look, this's different!
