Pohuehue (Beach Morning Glory)

The Ancient Hawaiians would slap the surface of the ocean with the Pohuehue vines in order to chase fish into their nets. They also believed that by slapping the vines over the ocean surface with the appropriate chants would cause the surf to rise and so improve of surfing conditions.
