Description:

Red beetle with grooved elytron. This one is dead :(

Habitat:

Found high up on an Aeonium in front yard planter.

I agree that it looks really similar, but I'd be hesitant to go beyond genus without being able to examine the beetle more closely. I'm fairly confident about the genus though.
