Looking at the Wikipedia site, I see that some people keep them as pets. You've got to be pretty desperate to do that , in my view. They like to hang out underneath potted plants in my yard & greenhouse. Also known as a woodlouse.
This is commonly know as a pill bug, or sow bug. It's the only crustacian that spends its entire life on land. Kids love to find these to watch them curl up into a perfect ball.
