Description:

Earth star fungi different stages of opening but no puffbal so i cannot class it as a puff ball

Habitat:

widespread in marshy damp areas growing from the soil or in leaf litter

Notes:

Spherical fungi that seemingly explodes out of the ground after substantial rain. In actuality it opens like a flower to reveal a ball of spores to be caught by wind.
