Not being vey good at fly ID, I will let others weigh in. I'm leaning toward Eupeodes volucris - but am pleased that both species prey on aphids in the juvenile form
Hi Karen, I like this spotting with the colorful background! I suggested an ID based on the markings, location and the reddish legs. It's a possibility it's Scaeva pyrastri so check both before updating your spotting.
