Description:

Hedgehog Gall produced by the tiny cynipid wasp Acraspis erinacei. Old, wooly ellipsoid gall - ca. 15 mm long can ca 7-8 mm diameter - produced on midrib of underside of leaf of White Oak (Quercus alba).

Habitat:

Found on White Oak (Quercus alba) leaf in leaf litter on sunny, south-facing slope above year-round drainage to Appalachee River.
